best proof of all that kiters are dangerous as group: they've been kicked out of so many places,

I think I would rephrase that as kites are obviously dangerous, especially on land in crowded areas. I'm not so sure I would label kiters as dangerous. I happen to know many liters and everyone of them are good, carful sailors. I don't associate the group because of a few bad apples of which I have seen, but don't know.

As for this incedent, two wrongs here. Kiter was obviously too close & windsurfer should look before flip. We don't know if the kilter was being a dick, not paying attention, had another sailor leeward of him or was a beginner struggling for control.

Each of those possibilities tells me the kiter belongs somewhere besides a crowded venue. There's no excuse for passing a stranger that close at speed.

I don't wanna bash kiters. Where I sail (midwest), kiters are a great bunch of guys and are excellent about making sure everyone has plenty of room.

I see no one here bashing kiters, and my experience has been the same as yours ... most of the time. But then I don't sail in the corridor very often.
