i'm thinking of possibly coming to kalmus this weekend, early in the a.m. to windsurf then leave before the traffic builds going north on 93. i've never been there before labor day and was wondering about the parking, like when do they start pay for parking, what if i get there say at 7:00 a.m., can you windsurf on the east beach where the boats are, any restrictions on where to rig? stuff like that.

thanks. dave

The forecast looks terrible for this weekend. That and the insane amount of traffic no matter when you leave.

Why not come up for the east Coast Windsurfing festival http://www.ecwindfest.org/ ?

i'm glad i decided to go on sunday morning. there was no traffic, i made the trip down from concord nh faster than ever only 2 hours and 15 minutes to get to the gate at kalmus beach and that includes a stop at the plymouth mcdonalds.

started rigging about 8:45 as they opened the gate early. the wind was a little lighter than forecasted but built nicely throughout the morning. i rigged 2 sails and had my larger GO board and my new bic 133 planing back and forth all morning as did dave from york me. i was surprised we were the only windsurfers out there, it was a perfect day.

really no boat traffic aside from the occasional ferry.

on the ride home bought a carbon boom from jim at sailworld and rode home with no traffic delays.

hope next weekend is as good.

You were the only ones there because the wind was blowing NE. Cleaner wind at other venues. SW wind is the direction worth traveling to Kalmus for. All is good as long as you had fun.
