Yeah, the newer RRD FSW's don't ride as nice as the early 2000 models, all the way to 2006. RRD made them thicker and narrower per volume, so the ride was tippier, bouncier, and stiffer.
The '03-06 FSW's were like MagicRide/Gecko/Atoms, very thin low center of gravity and full double concave from track to almost between the straps. |

For me at 165 lbs and with a bad back it gets a bit ruff in cross chop pretty quick. My 96 3s with the thick pads and tail cut outs is super smooth and extends my time on the water. I sail it down to 4.7 In lite and gusty wind its to small to carry a 6.5 Its doable but not perfect. So I need the float of the 115 Rocket with the ride of the 3s. Hence the thought of the larger 2017 116 3s. |
The larger 3S will probably work just fine then.
I should have written it better, but do you you compared the 3S to other FSW? _________________ K4 fins

I have been pretty locked in with Tabou boards. Been very happy with them.
I did try a RRD Firestorm LTD for a replacement for the 115 Rocket. Nice board but it came apart after a month of riding. RRD was not kind to me. Lots of back and forth. It took almost a year and help from the board lady to get my money back. |

2017 3s 116 is on its way. I'll let you guys know my impressions if any one cares. Might be awhile before it warms up enough to give it a ride... |

I care. Looking forward to your impressions.
I need a FSW around 105, so I am interested in the 116 for comparison. |
