Yeah, we need only look at the mid '80's windsurfing vids.
Those guys totally ripped on today's better than average sailors, and most of them STILL totally rip compared to most of today's windsurfer's, except the very best, of course.
Only in modern freestyle have the sailor's gotten a huge advance, and only at the very top of the skill levels.

With my current geriatric sailing style, I would be 100% happy to sail on that Boa (as I did 25 years ago at Crissy) and then move up to the 284 Flow in lighter winds (had the light green version for L Michigan). Both easy sailing SMOOTH riding boards that soak up the bumps.

Just because a workman has a bunch of new tools doesn't mean he'll be able to do a good job.

The home remodeling contractor I trust most after several jobs buys his tools at Harbor Freight.

ha ha nothing wrong with old kit!
I got lucky when a fellow left me his Neil Pryde VX Ltd which must only have about 4 - 5 uses on it! Was quite awesome to get back out on a sail that I used to love! I made a short vid of it and used a period Protech slalom board also.
