Ive sailed there, both up in the Overton arm and down off the beach near Boulder City and the dam. It can rage, but can also be puffy, running in ~5-minute cycles of off and on. PWCs and powerboats are a manageable nuisance. There is a determined cadre of sailors at Mead. As there is no nearby shop, many of them buy equipment mail order or when theyre visiting the coast. The water gets deliciously warm in the summer!
