Hi,

Ive been down to Fort Meyers about 7 winters. The largest crowd for windsurfing will be at Sanibel causeway. THere is a pull off to the left right at the toll booth. THen about half-way across the bridge, a pull -off to the right, then about another 400 yards a picnic area to the left. Of these three, the best beginner site is the first one - shallow water (knee deep). On a SE wind you rip up and down the shore - but it gets too shallow at low tide so just take it out a little further. A little wave action down the shore about 400 yards.

Ace Performer is the place to rent and buy - good guy and good deals.

Ive sailed at Wiggins State Park - but just last year they got real strict and make windsurfers launch way at the end of the road where you are likely to tangle with fishermen.

Also sailed at Barefoot Beach County Park - across the inlet from Wiggins, accesible down Bonita Beach Road, take a left turn into the access road. Good sailing if you like better waves on S to N winds. E is offshore, not too bad because there arent any hotels or condos.

My travels North of Fort Meyers havent resulted in any wind. Been to the Keys a lot. Good wind and pretty water at Bahia Honda - camping is pretty good, too. Wind is more consistent in the Keys than on the West Coast. Never sailed the East Coast - but understand the wind is much more consistent than the West.

Have Fun - Im going to the Panhandle in February.

JADA
that sounds great
I am often down in Gasparila Island in Boca Grand and am chomping at the bit : Pinellas park up near Tampa seems to be the closest place for rentals..

Where is your friend located?

That first beach sounds perfect: shallow warm water and fetch that parallels the beach!!

Thanks

Tom
