Wind-o-meters are not placed where one sails. They can only be used as a reference, and wind direction, current, and air temperature affect the usability of the readings. Each one at a particular site has to be learned to figure out the relation to what you rig. It takes constant sailing at one site to correlate the wind-o-meter readings to the conditions on the water. Better if you can read the water at the site in real time.
But you all know this...

Yes we do, just like I knew cambered sails were doomed after I got my 1st
ride on a Sailworks Retro circa 2001. And voila, we're back on subject.

I will buy it only if I see it happening on a real PWA course with consistency. |

I do use non cams in all my sails, the past 2 year's.
But, cams give higher angles for Formula and also for Slalom gear, while doing basically nothing for Freeride, Freestyle, and waves.
Oftentimes in slalom races, you need the lower angles at speed, and after the race, to get back upwind to the start lines.
And if you freeride with angles, cams do make a noticeable difference at both extremes. |
