Back by popular demand is the annual launch work party.

This year starting at Pt. Isabel and concluding at His Lordship's in Berkeley Marina.

Minus tide next Sunday AM is propitious. We will congregate at Pt. Isabel at 10:30 AM, working on gravel launch pathway and steps until perhaps 11:30. Then moving over to His Lordship's to work on riprap pathway, etc.

Tide is -0.3 ft at 11:16 AM that Sunday.

Bring gloves, boots, implements - rakes/pry bars/breaking bars/shovels - whatever.

PI photos below from last Tuesday.

Cheers, David

Will be there with hoe in hand.

Looking forward to better steps and removal of stray rocks at launch!

I recall that Ron handled that aspect last year - however, he's out of state.

Volunteers sought in any case!

Maybe Carl's hoe can bring them.

I don't think Carl's hoe even knows of a donut store!

Folks,

Today was success by all measures, except perhaps for ease of parking at PI. Definitely had to hone lurking skills as you waited for a space to open up.

Conditions were superb, with sun but no wind to distract or chill us. Good thing as a couple of us got wetter than planned.

Anyway, the following actions took place:

1. PI Launch pathway cleared of significant boulders and sharp rocks out below the low tide line today of -0.3 ft.

2. Edges of that pathway made more regular with protruding riprap relocated.

3. Last large original step at PI re-secured and three additional steps below it added and secured.

4. HLS path down hill made more maneuverable.

5. HLS launch path cleared of significant stones and the large protruding rock out near end of jetty was “diminished” - via trusty sledge hammer.

6. HLS garbage bins were discussed with restaurant management. Carol will contact City to have them relocated eastward (5-8 feet or so) to improve our access to the launch hillside pathway.

Lots of fishermen now at the HLS jetty due to loss of pier access. Hope we can continue to negotiate access with them. Pier needs to be fixed!

See you all on the water soon I trust.

Thanks, David

P.S. Many thanks to Kris for our group photo! Several before/after photos. The final photo is especially for Steve W - we thought you were coming back to join us driving one of your spiffy Oldies!! Sorry, can't seem to manage placing them on this forum due to size issues.
