Is it filled with fishing lines?
Is the wind decently kinda ok?
Is it deep?
I am thinking about a flat water place to learn to foil. |

In the way back we were always afraid to windsurf in there because of all the logs and underwater scary things is all I can tell you. Might want to think about Bingen. |

Baaaaad idea.
Most venues are pretty flat when it's blowing single digits. I'd go for fewer logs (and creatures and fishing lines). |

Have taught people to windsurf at Horsethief lake. The reach is kinda small but that means you don't have to swim as far if you can't sail back! No real hazards that I can remember. Nice grassy beach. |

I talked to fishing guide last year at Drano when wondering if my sunfish sailboat would hit anything. He told me that all logs are visible... aka none lurking just under surface.
I had a successful sailboat session in September 2016.
Some things to keep in mind: There is a launch fee. Parking is hectic during salmon season. Water is quite cold due to river outflow there- wear appropriate wetsuit.
Have fun. Be safe. |

Lots of fishing hooks in the water. I had a friend take me there to catch a springer. I felt like the whole WalMart parking lot was was at draino lake driving their fishing boat Combat fishing on the shore. It was absolute chaos. Never going back. |
