Yes! This does look like a lot of fun. Only a matter of time before I get started foiling as I hate big sails and am selling all my light wind gear.

No, its a Go foil, The Maliko model, its made for down wind surf foiling, but works perfect with the sail, and I like the shorter mast 24.5in, gives you more control riding waves.

Looks like he's riding the swell in front of the actual wave, or out on the shoulder, but never the wave face.
Kinda like kitesurfing, where you don't need a wave or windswell to jump.
Wave riding is riding the face of the wave, not out in the flats.

Ya the dang Go Pro makes all the waves look flat. sorry I wish I had better film but I don't have Kia Lennys film crew following me around. Sad I am actually riding the face of the wave, you need wave power that's the only way to stay going without any sail power. Its exactly the same thing as the surf foiling videos when on a wave except a sail is attached to the board.

Camera's do make the image distorted.
But coming from 25 year's of full time surfing, it appears to me that only windsurf wave riding is close to actually surfing the waves.
Kitesurfing in waves is just using the wave as a reference point, as kite power overcomes any wave that comes along.
Foil surfing rides the undercurrent of an incoming swell, so it doesn't need a wave at all, as foils ride under the wave, and can just as easily ride windswells that never break.
Try surfing, then tell me foiling is the same thing.
