My clean up week find '98 Fanatic board mast track car is identical to Mistral Prodigy one. I replaced mine stock Fanatic one with a NOS Mistral one; however there are some significant differences between them two. Here's a photo of my stock '98 Fanatic next to Mistral Prodigy one. Notice the the stock Fanatic has much thicker steel tension rods that hold base pin in place. Both are in locked position in the photo.

Sure enough lousy modern Mistral junk car rods no longer hold their shape. This one failed during a session and the base came off the track. So I went back to the stock car. It's pretty abused and the pin opening has become widened with use beyond the dimensions of appropriate track pin diameter (Prodigy one).

But: Epic Gear pin for Cobra tracks is larger diameter than the Mistral Prodity one and fits snug in the abused Fanatic car. So I'm going with it. There's quite a bit less thread on the Epic Gear pin. I used lots of red Loctite to attach the Epic pin to Chinook mechanical base. Will see what happens. See pics of two pins differences.

They sure don't make things like they used to.

Also, I love "Fatanic" in the subject line. Sounds like someone who worships a chubby devil. Twisted Evil

That's OK. Maybe someone will come out with Chubby Devil Boards.
