If anyone have experience with this board could you let me know what fin it work best with, I here the drake 70cm r19 that it comes with was not that bad. I heard it rides rather flat so your need mast base pritty far back along with straps. What are the pros and cons of this board along side the formula 160, 161 or 167. If anyone has owned and compared from board to board.

We have the 162 and the 167.
162 is a better light wind board, flatter rocker, more glide.
167 has much more rocker, so needs more wind, but can handle high chop better, at the expense of lighter wind planing.
We don't bother with the 70 fin, as it's probably best for 200lbs+ rider's using 11-12 meter sails. Using a Kashy Soft 62 on the 162 and a Debochet R-13M 62 on the 167 for sails up to 9 meters.

Wow, suprised the 162 is better for light winds. Good advice on fins, my weight is only 145 lbs. I have a 60 cm rsx fin that worked well on my 2002 formula 136, wonder if it is any good on the 162. Do the smaller fins just make the 162 more comfortable to ride? I'm not racing so I do not really need the crazy extreme up/down wind angles of attack.

We're 160 lbs., so a 62 works fine from 6.7 through 9 meter's.
60 should be fine for your weight.
162 is a handful in chop, and winds over 20. It's flatter rocker is much earlier planing without needing maximum sail sizing.

How does the 162 perform on the down wind. Does the nose tend to hit the chop slowing it down?
Does the board have the option of a chicken strap.

advice from san francisco. buyer beware, it is windy there.

small fins for elsewhere. great fin makers though.

i don't know anything about the boards, but know that advice from san fran is not very applicable to florida

In some ways, advice from San Francisco might not be applicable, but here on this thread, and what I say, is just comparing shapes, which is not rocket science.
OP already HAS the 162, era 2009-10, so he has no choice in the board.
OTOH, he's 145 lbs., while we're 160, a huge 15 lbs difference.
Certainly better than getting advice from a 195 ls rider who doesn't know the boards. We have both of them.

Will try to get the 162 out on the water in coming days.
Will have my full review of it.
Looks like a sweet board though.

We've had the 162 since 2012.
The 167 we just got end of last year.

Had the 162 out today. Winds were around 15-24km and I was on a 7.5 Ezzy infinity with the two cams in and the 70cm r19. Foot straps in the back. Mast track just in front of the serial number. Sail was tuned light for the conditions - min out/down haul.
Pumped on to plane. And then the boad would take off super comfortable in the straps, compared to the f136. I found it easy to keep planing in the lulls by foot work and a few pumps. Upwind was really good. I have to test how the down wind is more.

The second time I went out today the wind had picked up a bit, so I moved base to middle and put more down/out haul. This made the board ride so flat that the nose would stick and it would almost be impossible to plane. So since the board rides so flat you need the base way back to keep the nose from sticking or you will just slog even in stronger winds. Maybe Zirtaeb has experienced this on his too.

Will get out and try my 47cm weed fin one day. The rsx fin did not work because bolt nuts were so far down the fin it did not reach the screw.
