I might be the first to have foiled Tigers on a windsurf board. Light, squirrely offshore winds with some 15 mph gusts on Monday 8/14. 80% flight efficiency on a 5.0. Once the foil is up you can maintain flight by pumping the sail a bit and bouncing the rear of the board thru the dead zones.

Congrats Bert. Pioneering a new way at an existing, but not too frequented a spot. And bouncing the board through lulls. Man. Kai Lenny ain't got nothing on you. Wink

Isabel Tuesday.
Fluffy at first on my 5.6. Bigger stuff doing fine.
Filled in nicely around five. Plenty of power.
Bombing along in the fog's shade, I came upon a sunny space and was joined by a party of pelicans. We shared a gust till they all banked away. Just the best.

Bit earlier today launching from Vincent at 3:40 with 5.5. Good sesh, but never made it to Jibe City due to wind direction.

Reminds me that I had close encounter with pelican along Potrero Reach earlier this week, which also reminded me of 2016 Los Barriles encounter.....

Launched at New Brighton and windsurfed up the coast to Pleasure Point. Surfline has used a four letter word to describe conditions: FLAT
And so it was. And so not many surfers. Allowed me to go play on ankle-biters in areas usually too crowded to go.

Noon to 2 pm foil session at the Stick on a 5.0. Wind ave was 13-15 with lulls of 5 and gusts of 20..typical Stick conditions on a light day. Today I concentrated on upwind and downwind angles on the foil. Went downwind to Hunters Pt past the long pier, did a slow foil jibe then headed further downwind to Sierra Pt. Thought about Oysters but chickened out. Headed back upwind from Sierra and made it back to the launch in 2 tacks. Did this exercise twice with the foil up at 90% flight efficiency. It's my 45th day on the foil and I'm finally over the hump. It's taken longer than I had planned to get to this point but then again, I'm as old as Godzilla! I now need to concentrate on mastering the foil jibe..it's harder than shit to do.

Yeah Bert, I am impressed. Way to go after it. I bet you have the jibes perfected before long.

Friday fun at Isabel. Fell into a few holes here and there but for the most part it was powered up 5.6 speed runs.

We are such lucky humans to have the skills and opportunities to play the game we play. Considering the complex weirdness our country is experiencing these days, chasing a gust is a welcome escape.
