Pondering taking last minute trip down to TX for soon to become TS Harvey. Does anyone know of anywhere I can rent gear in the Houston/Galveston area? Looking for advanced stuff. Will cost me $300 to bring my gear.

If it's anything like it is up here, the state and local authorities close all beach access Plus I doubt any shop owner would rent gear to anyone planning to sail in a tropical storm. Good luck! |

Slinky you changed your call sign. Maybe I am just getting a little antsy without a big blow here in New England. Couldn't make it out yesterday and now no wind again.

You could always visit WorldWinds. The extra trip to Corpus is a bit of a pain, but they'll probably be open, have great gear, and all wind directions are fun at BIB. Looks like plenty of wind from Friday to Sunday. |

I can't blame you for getting antsy DrWind! I got my fix in Maui a month ago. Sailed 10 out of 12 days. 3 on a 4.2, 3 on a 5.5 and 4 on a 4.7. I've not been out once since returning on the 17th of July. Even the Cape been pretty dead, So I'm getting antsy too! Looks like you'll have company, so sail safe and have fun! |

Man! Conditions are ripe! Harvey seeing explosive development. Most likely a strong Cat 2 if not Cat 3 by landfall.
