Ever see the movie "Always". Sort of like the opening seen. The pilots were amazing.

New Mexico park rangers once told us we must clear the lake for a while around 1:00 PM. He grinned and said we'll see why, and will know instinctively when it's clear to launch again.
At precisely 1:00 a HUGE Navy seaplane appeared, landed, taxied to the marina depot, fueled up, taxied back out, and took off. That was impressive enough, but the 50 mph winds and overhead swell he ignored (except making sure he landed and took off facing into them) really got our attention.
A continuous circle of water tankers shut down the 3-Mile Canyon lagoon during one of the big fires out east a few years ago as they battled the fire that came within yards of burning the town of Roosevelt. A newly empty tanker was always close behind the last one that had scooped water from the lagoon and roared off towards Roosevelt. The fire and their brave, skilled, successful efforts made headlines in Europe fergoo'nes sakes.
