Saturday I went for a move just downwind of the main launch maybe 40 yards from the rocks and blew the move. Heard all kinds of people noise which I thought was some sort of cheering or something. After a closer look I saw a bunch of Not white people yelling "Get out of hear you honky MthFkr" and the like. Also they were hurling rocks at me. It was troubling, especially since I'm not a Honky. Thought about calling the cops to report it but too much hassle.
Any similar experiences/comments. I can't believe I was the only target

Well I had a minor bit of that that day to
There were quite a few fishing lines out and I came in downwind
of them by quite a bit yet they were yelling at me.

Also I think I saw the incident where you came in about 50 to 100ft
just downwind of the launch it looked like they were throwing rocks
at you.

Then a bunch of kids were acting like idiots on the bridge while one
of the side show idiots was doing donuts in the road.

I like to go other places if there available especially on weekends.
To bad this is one of the best spots for working on your moves in the
bay area.

California has gone off the deep end, and I'm a rare 3rd generation Californian.

Candlestick is near Hunters Point which is one of the Ghetto
area's of SF . This place is a regular spot for drug deals and gang bangers
and that element has gotten worse since the demise of the
the 49er football stadium. The cops don't seem to come out there
anymore and it seems the gang bangers have spotters for them
when there are doing there thing.

I think there might be extra anger with the whole of SF being gentrified
by the Internet Tech guys.

Yea, I hate the scenes there. Not very friendly. IMO, stick is an overly hyped site, many times...holey / gusty. Makes sense for sailors who live nearby. I'll make a visit less than a handful of times a year...if that.

Go to other places with steadier wind and more pleasant environment and cleaner water (e.g. TI, OC, Coyote, 3rd: TI is a bit questionable but better than stick) Sad

TI was realy good past couple days, epic the day before.

The hats should say "Make America Great". The "Again" part doesn't make any sense.

Didn't like the element on Friday at the Stick and given the high tide went to Haskins. A bit more difficult launch, but the sailing was great (4.7). The biotech people were having a drink on the patio. A number of them came by afterward and asked if it was fun. Nice place to rig, plenty of parking, safety cameras.

Been going to the Stick for almost 30 yrs and have never had a problem. It's a unique sailing spot and not for everyone's taste. I like it because the wind comes in early and I was always able to get a 5.0 and under session before going to work when I was working (swing shift). I have noticed that a group of guys starting to fish by the rocks 50 yards from the launch so it would be wise to stay clear of that area..it's their home turf and we are visitors.
It's unfortunate that they were throwing rocks at you. I had that happen to me at Oyster Point by the pier a couple of years back..someone tossed a Tecate can at me when I sailed too close to their fishing line and I'm a Coors Light kind of guy.

Yesterday, I was walking downwind to keep an eye on someone swimming in and I ended up talking to the fishermen just downwind of the launch. They did make a comment about sailors coming too close to their fishing area and mentioned that they have been yelling something at sailors coming in "too close".

They seemed very reasonable and polite to me in saying (paraphrasing) "that we (the fishermen) stay our of your way (windsurfers) by not fishing in and around the launch, so why can't you avoid our fishing area"

Kind of interesting I see this post today

Not sure exactly how close they consider close, but I am planning on turning around a bit earlier.
