Where are people sailing on north winds?
With Windy Cove closed it makes it hard to find a good site
I have sailed from bridge just downwind of the Cove but nobody else around |

That bridge launch is about the only option left for North Wind at the delta. Not a bad location actually. I have had some good north wind sessions there. Just watch out for the barges coming out into the main channel from under the bridge. Used to be a spot called the jungle a little further up the road but not really accessible any more and then there is glass beach which is a bit precarious to launch from...too much debris. Bridge is best option I am aware of. The access and the sign are no fun in a north wind. |

Very up and down maybe 8 to 35 at times. Better at Folsom or Berkeley to me. |

The bridge works fine. If the wind is in the right direction and it's flooding, it is a mirror image of Sherman on an ebb in the summer. However watch out at that launch, the flood going into the slough is very fast and I've seen people unable to overcome it. Get as far out as you can towards the river and wait for a good puff before starting off.

Thx Steve,
I had forgotten to mention North wind at the Bridge = Flood tide only and you are spot on about the current. Sailing the north wind there during an ebb is double jeopardy! |

It would be nice if Windy Cove were to reopen some day. That was a nice place to sail. |

Sailed at the bridge Saturday! At least 5 sailors on the water around 1!
Nice to have company.
Sailed there about 5 years ago solo.

My friend and I sailed out of the Access on Sunday. We checked out the bridge launch at Windy Cove (such fond memories of that spot) and deemed it too sketchy. There were 3 of us at the Access. We sailed straight off the beach, straight into the sun. Very gusty, surreal. After about 45 minutes we called it a win on an October day. I had a delicious beer to celebrate. |
