Took a beating at Tigers this Monday. Looking out towards SFO from Oysters you can never really tell how windy Tigers is. I went 4.7 on the foil and headed to Flying Tigers at 1 pm where I quickly realized that I should have rigged 3.7. It was blowing 25 with big 30 mph gusts..holy shit. I made a few runs and limped back to Oysters after an hour of survival sailing on the foil.

Foil for 6-14 mph breeze, then windsurf up to what you still can handle with fun overriding work.
Go fast, carve g force jibes, jump high.

Dvcali... Have you ever windsurfed with a foiler who was your skill level as a ws'er? I'd think not. Those are far and few between...and likely not at the stick.

Monday Berkeley was summer good. Freestylers on 4.4 to 5, freerider's 5.5 to 6, most overpowered for at least part of the session.
Might have approached 27 mph around 3:30

I regularly sail Coyote and Crissy ... does Chris Radkowski counts?
I watched for years people on first generation foils doing 15 knots in 20 knots wind at Crissy ... now it is better, if you are on a good size sail and a fast foil like a NP or F4. 6.5-8.0 sails when foiling are usual at Coyote.

What are we talking here?
Chris weighs 180, do you? He's been foiling for 2 years max. Where you a good sailior after 2 years?
Even Zavier and Mike Percy have only foiled for 2 years.
I, like you, am NOT sold on foils.
I like sailing on 5 meters and 85 liter boards.

Domond,
I guess you went out at Berkeley Docks after sundown yesterday/Wednesday, or....?
When we were there Jonesing at around 3PM it wasn't 16-22. Or maybe you caught the few minutes after 4:30 PM when it momentarily peaked (see graph below) - after we all left?
Just trying to analyze what the rest of us missed.
Thanks, David

No, my post was directed to dvcali, concerning our thoughts on foiling in general. I never considered rigging on Wed. and hardly left the comforts of the car.
