A few weeks back, while camped at Lake Isabella, (California) I found handout on my car indicating that the US Forest Service is planning to start charging for camping at the Auxillary Dam Campsite. Can anyone provide me with more information on what is planned?
For those not familiar with Lake Isabella, the Aux. Dam campsite, it is a favorite of windsurfers, because (1) you can leave rigged gear on the lake shore overnight, (2) during June and July it is not unusual to get 25+ mph winds, and (3) typically, the air and water are nice and warm. |

I spoke with the U.S. Dept of Forestry in regards to the proposed camping fees at Lake Isabella. I was told they are considering charging a camping fee. They e-mailed me a question and answer sheet addressing the issue. Anyone interested in getting a copy e-mail me at lmoore@socal.rr.com and I will pass it along.
