I think you missed part of the discussion. MG cited a source, "Red Elephants", for thier factual reporting. Mac pointed out that "Red Elephants" has racist views. Mat-ty denigated Mac for making that observation. I posted some of the "facts" belived by "Red Elephants" and asked MG and Mat-ty to confirm that they agreed with said "facts". MG agrees with "Red Elephants" that Pinocet did no wrong. MG and Mat-ty have failed to state whether they agree with the other "facts" believed by "Red Elephants" and have instead tried to obfuscate their position with deflection. Their refusal to answer my simple question leads me to belive that that do indeed agree with the other assertions of "fact" stated by "Red Elephants". I made no accusations of any sort against anyone. I am merely attempting to understand the perspective of those with whom I am having a conversation. Your conlusions relative to my motives are misplaced and not a healthy state of affairs. But, thank you for joining the conversation. I know have an interest in understanding your perspective. Therefore, I am curious about your statement that political correctness is clouding reality. As it pertains to the United States, what is your positions on the "facts" believed by "Red Elephants"?
Do you agree with these "facts" that are believed by Red Elephants?:
*Pinochet did nothing wrong
*The wage gap is a myth
*White privilege is a myth
*Race and IQ correlate
While your anecdotal report is entertaing (the use of the adjective "sharp" when, i beleive, the first radios in Japan were produced by the company named Sharp), it is not relevant to the subject at hand and does not support any of the "facts" asserted by "Red Elephants". |

I take your criticism Vientomas, of side tracking your points. I know nothing of Red Elephants and do not agree with their facts as you present them.
What has set me thinking though for most of today (kayaking during our current Arctic spell, and unable to get the thoughts out of my head) was what I must have been implying when my accuser berated me, namely that the European classical composers of the 18th and 19th centuries (think Bach, Mozart, Beethoven etc) were indeed more profound in their works and therefore superior to any other period, or culture. (Given that one is able to accept absolute standards in musical form, as I and many millions of others worldwide can.)
He must have construed my meaning of an abhorrent added harshness to be a claim white superiority as regards musical fidelity. I cannot say I did not mean to imply that! On reflection I will not retract that belief, because their music has played a significant part in my human joy. If that makes me into a white superior then the world has gone mad!
As for my other 'daft as a brush' detractor on this forum, who somehow manages to equate me to Adolph Hitler, he really needs to go and boil his head! It wouldn't cure his nonsense, but it would indeed put him out of our misery. |

I'm not offended. I have a thick skin and can return your name calling without missing a beat. However, as I ponder my posts here, I have to admit the name calling (including mine) does nothing to promote a healthy debate on the issues. Therefore, going forward, I pledge to refrain from the name calling. Apparently, you are unwilling to do the same. Perhaps because you do not come here to actually debate and consider the position of those with whom you disagree. But instead, you come here to gratify yourself by claiming your superiority and denigrating others. So be it. At least I now know the character of the person I am speaking to. Good day. |

Civil discussion cannot occur when the other party is full of hate.
Your qualification "do not agree with their facts as you present them" is classical logic. Those guys are a bunch of millenials pushing intelligent discussion. I have personally spoken to them, and they are far from racist, with many black and Hispanic members.
As for Vientomas, he's been generally civil as have a couple of leftys on this forum. I enjoy the back and forth.
Media has been calling the accusers action annotation, not forgery. But when the "annotation" has been represented as original incriminating evidence, it's a forgery. |
