I know a jug of water or thermos of hot water for cold water spots gets the job done when you are wrapping up from a session but I have seen some epic 'windsurfing rigs' out there and I was wondering if anyone had a strong opinion about the following portable shower options or any others on the market.

i dont know if you have seen the show "wheeler and dealers".... but they took an old van and turned it into a surf mobile...they put in a built in shower system. they took a 1/2 barrel keg as the water tank...and then rigged a heat exchanger (water/engine coolant), then put in a 12v water pump for pressure. It was more of a permament installation...but...something more smaller and portable ?
on a side note....I miss ED (wheeler dealer fans will know what i mean)

i like the rinsekit idea ...
local crazy yvente fills a cooler with hot water (irony in the wording)
when required can stick feet or hands in to warm up
(obviously NOT too hot by then)
and can scoop some out and dump over one's head
and this fellow is drastic !!

We use one similar to this, runs on batteries, so location is optional, it sucks water from a bucket, it’s rather floppy unless secured . You need water, duh, and a bucket.
Cheap, works. |
nice! that looks pretty good. i have a converted Big Kahuna 12V shower. Basically it's a 3gpm pump connected to a dog food bin. Nice thing about 12V is you can run it off solar when you're in PSC, while the Rinse Kit needs to be charged through water pressure. I think you can build a 12V shower for about $40 depending on what parts you use. The product linked above + an empty kitty litter bucket would probably do just fine.

Tried several kinds of portable showers over the years and really didn't like any of them until I came across the NEMO Helio. Love it. Pump it for pressure and add a kettle of hot water and you have a warm-hot shower.
Under $100

Have you tried a ZODI , I have had mine for years and it works well.
The storage box is three gallons, but you can draw right out of the river,
When you use the Tank just recirculate it for a while
and it will get so hot that it will start to melt the plastic hoses etc,
It uses a green propane bottle
and a pump that runs on D Batterys.
Just be sure to open it up later to let it dry
or it will corrode
And be sure that the hose is not stuffed into your wetsuit
when you run out of water, the last drops will turn to steam,
and you will know how a lobster feels, there is an upscale version(Hot Tap)
that clips to 12v for the (bigger ) pump and uses 2 of the heating coil units.
This one is better for a group camp kitchen. but still not large.
Mine is small and cargos well. not sun, warm right off and hotas ..
if you wait for it.
