Hi Kevin,

Any insight as to why Fanatic is offering the Skate in TE construction exclusively for 2018? Given BGE construction had great appeal for free riders and old school Freestyle riders does Fanatic see the Stubby Freewave a better option?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Windfind,

No response required, and something like "go read the NWS/NOAA/some other page about how weather works" would be great. A text might do, if I get inspired. Your posts are great for getting some basic understanding about NPH, marine layer depth (in summer), and other factors that drive the wind.

I notice wind can really favor certain spots on different days. I might be in Los Gatos with a strong breeze, only to find it calm 10 miles away in Sunnyvale. In winter, I've seen a 4 inch precipitable winter storm reach the Sierras and exit north without a flake on the crest (er, wrong sport). I've walked a bay area ridgetop in cold breezy fog, with 80 degree air rising upslope on the lee side just ten feet below the ridge.

Thanks for your wind posts.

Hi Tom,

The non-TE Skate was a shape from 2010 and was getting pretty long in the tooth. A great shape for sure and an all time classic. It does ride differently than the TE Skate, but the TE Skate I find is great for classic carving freestyle also. I'm a big fan of carve 360s, hoss tacks, trick jibes, etc... and the TE Skates are great carving boards. I would still probably use the TE Skate over the STB for classic carving freestyle in flatter water. The STB was also a revelation to me. I rode the 85 all last season and practically ditched my Skate 93. That said, nothing seems to finish the last part of a carve 360 like my Skates (and I like to do them w/ both feet in the straps).

some freestyle on 3 fins and a 3.7
