For anybody, what's the deal with the asymmetrical speed booms I've been seeing lately being used at Luderitz, I understand it's a one way only speed run, but who makes those, and why? And not everybody who runs there are using them yet.

The additional boom arm makes the entire boom much stiffer and thus controls sail shape better in gusts and lulls. The interior arm resists compression of the outer arm, an effect not in play using standard booms.
