NP RS1 experience

Any comments on the 2001 NP 6.6 RS1 before I buy? Im looking for 1999 V8 type performance or better. Thanks.

Hello,

I am a big Fan of the NP V8.. I have a 7.5 and a 9.5... However, A fellow sailor at my favourite spot had rigged a 7.5 RS1, and I had my 7.5 V8 rigged. We both used Starboard Go that day as well. The wind was blowing around 15 knots. I was able to fully plane with little effort, but noticed that the guy with the RS1 was hardly moving. A couple of days later, I was on my Mistral Echo (130l) and tghe same 7.5 V8... and again the conditions were marginal. The RS1 guy was on the Go board again, and he should have been kicking my ass, but again, he was hardly moving. Considering the V8 and the RS1 are very similar, I was suprised at the poor performance, We tried to let out the downhaul a bit, but could not get the thing to wake up!! Get a V8!!!
