I was thinking that usa4 could get Mike's attention. He's a very competitive guy on the SF Bay windsurf racing scene, but maybe there's some truth to what I've heard that Mike's interests are shifting these days.

NOVAAN, Mike's waiting list can be quite long. I've waited up to a year and a half for a few boards in the past, but I have to admit that was quite some time ago. Did you pay a deposit for your spot on the list? That's often been a necessary prerequisite in the past.

Hearsay...Mike has turned his "shop", aka workspace in his house, into full on foil and mast production. NO room for even one sailboard, but room for a "few" kiteboards.
Last contact with MZ in 10-17, after his 4 hours in the water from a downed foil kite while kitefoiling.

I was actually with Mike Z on the infamous day he lost his kite. He passed me going downwind—and blew up. Kite when downwind, Mike another, and the board a third. I left when his kite buddy showed up, I figured he could re-launch the kite. Oh well, he had to be rescued by Cal Sailing Club skiff. Makes me glad I have a board that floats me.

In any event, Mike’s business is almost entirely racing kiteboards and foils. Since his equipment is competitive on the international race circuit, and he works with the best, it kind of makes sense. He continues to work with a handful of windsurfers that he has built for decades—we’ve put his kids through college. But not many. He reinforced my board for foiling, but was convinced I would kill myself. I made a valiant effort, but fell somewhat short of death.
