gee if he already paid her off why is there any question?

Just like trump having a porn star and many other paid off.

It is like Nixon did, he took it from Nixons playbook, Nixon had the CIA agents families paid by his friends in Arab nations so it would not be connected to him and he could deny he paid the criminals off. Ya he didn't he had others pay them off and he did not pay the thieves he had the families receive the money...

Congressman denies misconduct claim; ethics probe may follow

Associated Press
MARC LEVY
,Associated Press•January 20, 2018
Quote:
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — House Speaker Paul Ryan called for an Ethics Committee investigation Saturday after the New York Times reported that U.S. Rep. Patrick Meehan used taxpayer money to settle a complaint that stemmed from his hostility toward a former aide who rejected his romantic overtures.

The story, published online Saturday, cited unnamed people who said the Republican Pennsylvania representative used thousands of dollars from his congressional office fund to settle the sexual harassment complaint the ex-aide filed last summer to the congressional Office of Compliance.

In a statement, Ryan's spokeswoman said the allegations must be investigated "fully and immediately" by the House Ethics Committee and that Meehan would immediately submit himself to the committee's review. Meehan is being removed from his position on the committee, and Ryan told Meehan that he should repay any taxpayer funds that were used to settle the case, Ryan's spokeswoman said.

The Times did not identify the accuser and said she did not speak to the newspaper.

In a statement, the four-term congressman's office denied that Meehan sexually harassed or mistreated the ex-aide. It also said Meehan, the former U.S. attorney in Philadelphia, had asked congressional lawyers who handled the case to ask the ex-aide's lawyer to dissolve the settlement's confidentiality requirements "to ensure a full and open airing of all the facts."

House Ethics Committee Drops Republican Over Taxpayer-Funded Harassment Settlement

Quote:
A Republican tasked with fighting against sexual harassment in Congress secretly settled a misconduct complaint filed against him by a former aide, The New York Times first reported Saturday.

According to the report, Rep. Patrick Meehan (R-Pa.), a member of the House Ethics Committee and married father of three, expressed interest in the personal life of a female aide who was decades younger than him. Meehan eventually attempted to pursue a romantic relationship with the aide and became hostile when she rejected his advances, the Times said.

The advances reportedly made the aide, who remains anonymous, so uncomfortable that she filed a complaint against Meehan, began working from home and, eventually, quit.

Meehan was booted from the House Ethics Committee on Saturday, hours after the Times story was published. A spokeswoman for House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) announced Meehan’s ouster in a statement to HuffPost.

In its story, the Times spoke with 10 people who either worked in Meehan’s office or were friends with the aide at the time the alleged harassment took place.

After the aide left her post in Meehan’s office, Meehan reportedly paid her an undisclosed amount from his congressional office fund, which includes taxpayer money, as part of a confidential agreement.

Casino mogul and RNC finance chairman Steve Wynn faces allegations of sexual misconduct

RNC Finance Chair Steve Wynn Accused Of Decades Of Sexual Misconduct: Report
Las Vegas mogul Steve Wynn has been accused of a decades-long pattern of sexual harassment and abuse toward workers at his casinos, according to an investigation by The Wall Street Journal.
Dozens of current and former employees at Wynn’s gambling establishments told the Journal they had experienced or witnessed chronic abuse by the billionaire, who was named finance chairman for the Republican National Convention last year.
The allegations range from lewd comments and inappropriate touching to soliciting sex acts from women who worked as manicurists and massage therapists at Wynn’s Las Vegas casinos.
“The idea that I ever assaulted any woman is preposterous,” Wynn said in a statement shared with HuffPost. “We find ourselves in a world where people can make allegations, regardless of the truth, and a person is left with the choice of weathering insulting publicity or engaging in multi-year lawsuits. It is deplorable for anyone to find themselves in this situation.”
At one time a rival of fellow casino businessman Donald Trump, Wynn was appointed to head the RNC’s finance committee in January 2017. He has supported both the Democratic and Republican parties with financial contributions over the years. But Wynn threw his support behind the latter during the 2016 election cycle, donating some $833,000 to Republican joint fundraising, according to Forbes

Some on the right don’t have the attention span to read this—others think that reading doesn’t matter. Matty would call the New York Times a tabloid. But this is an example of how the Republicans have over-reached—and a blue wave (and winter) are coming. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/23/opinion/teachers-protest-education-funding.html

Opinion pieces are usually interesting, but typically lose with facts and loaded with bias. Same for both parties. Just a big pitcher of "cool aid" for those that read opinions for news. I am also guilty when conservatives post opinion pieces, but they can be encouraging to read.

False equivalency... As we know in history the crimes by political people at the top are always the right by a 8 to one margin or so.. as we know the right is dumber than the liberals that is why the right hate universities, educated people, and run on folksy people. The top political crimes in the recent history of the USA are right wing, McVeigh, Enron, Jack Abramoff, Nixon,.

comparing right-wing writers to liberal writers is similar. Even though the media is owned at least by 9 to one by right wingers. Conrad Black was famous for buying newspapers and firing any liberal writers, sell the paper and do the same. Which writers win major awards would be one way.

With women turning against the GOP, yet another old white man steps in it:

Quote:
JUNEAU, Alaska - Alaska Lt. Gov. Byron Mallott resigned Tuesday over unspecified inappropriate comments, complicating what was already a difficult re-election fight for Gov. Bill Walker.

Mallott, in his resignation letter, said his decision was "compelled by inappropriate comments I made that placed a person whom I respect and revere in a position of vulnerability."

He apologized and acknowledged that his actions had compromised Walker's ability to lead the state.

The nature of the comments remained unclear, though Walker described them as an "inappropriate overture to a woman," Walker spokesman Austin Baird said.

Mallott did not immediately return a phone message seeking details, and Walker did not take questions during a news conference with Mallott's successor, Valerie Davidson. Until Tuesday, she had served as the state health commissioner.

Baird said Walker's office is trying to be careful in what details it releases because the woman involved did not want to be publicly identified.

In a statement, Walker said he learned late Monday that Mallott — a man with whom he has shared a brother-like bond — had made comments not suitable for his office.

The GOP cheer starts out, "What shall we grab?"

The GOP's tax cut lie gets exposed

Quote:
Republicans promised their tax cut for the rich and corporations would lower the deficit. Instead, it exploded. Chris asks GOP Rep. Ryan Costello.
