I sailed some Goya Volar boards, recently. I quite liked them. They seemed to respond really well to pumping, when you pump the sail while simultaneously quickly pushing the board up and forward with your feet. They seemed to jump onto a plane with that, when needed, more easily than others. Maybe it is just that my technique has improved, or maybe it is indeed the board. Anyone else try them and notice the same?

Pumping is worth 3-5mph wind with any board, if you can pump and are dialed into the board. Possibly more so when using foils.

I often use a half meter or more less than other guys my size. It works because I bear off the wind and pump my sail and board up on a plane. Some guys like to sail way powered up. I don't mind a little work to be on smaller boards and sails...

The Volar is a very nice board to sail. The light/stiff carbon construction might have helped with the acceleration that you felt. I personally really liked the smooth handling/control and the amazing grip in the jibes- you can push as hard as you want and the rail will never bounce out on you. Kind of like wave board grip but in a freeride shape. Fun!

I just came across this magazine review:
