With the vent open, suck very hard on the crack, if you can't get anything, you're probably good to go.

Worth a try.

True, but I was assuming that the crack was closer to, if not on, the rail.

The photos are a little deceiving. The small crack is on the deck about 2-3 inches in; not on the rail.

What about the opposite? Pump air IN to the the vent using a bicycle pump or similar. Put dish soap on the ding and see if it bubbles while pumping air into the vent.

I tried a stability ball pump (all I had available). It's tip fits well in the air vent. A little dish soap on around the pump tip to help seal. A little soap on the ding.

No air bubbles to report. Maybe the super glue did actually did do something? Or maybe it was just cosmetic after all?

If this was my new expensive board. I would ding stick it and go sailing. After the wind season Do a nice repair job sand and paint. I would not sail it with just super glue. Water can get in the smallest cracks and ruin a board. A glob of ding stick will insure its water tight.

Given the damage you have, I seriously doubt that it took on too much water. Yet, damage isn't something to ignore. Like NOVAAN suggested, with Dingstick you can patch the area temporarily and then do a proper repair in the off season. That's what I've been doing since the early 90s, and I even have some boards where I never got around to the finished repair on small dings.

However, when using Dingstick as a temporary patch, you shouldn't sand it out flush with the board, as it can lead to cracking, and ultimately water intrusion. Dingstick is kind of fill material with little structural integrity, so your finish work should include fiberglass or carbon laminations, and close attention to filling pinholes.

I would sand the crack, use West Systems epoxy , micro balloon additive, sand some then after go sailing.

Marine Tex or some proper ding stick are considered temporary repairs, BOTH are head and shoulders above Super Glue.

DUHhhhhhhhh

board lady says DO NOT open vent if a leak may be present.

makes the water, if any, migrate towards vent.

DO NOT blow into or vacuum air out of vent.

if no water: scratch it, seal it, enjoy it. resale value is for shid anyway.
