There is an RSD2 available in Toronto and it was probably me who posted it here...
Currently I am riding a Mistral Equipe 2 XR
have used 7.0, 8.x and 10.0 sails on it ....
Should I even consider the RSD2 and sell my MEQ2 ??
Have been a longboarder for over 20 years and is still my most used board
Will go out in 10+ knot winds on it
if winds are stronger i go out with JP SLW, Shark 145 or BEE 124
typically don't go out in winds over 20+ knots - yet
thanks in advance
joe

There is one locally which has changed hands several times. Nobody holds it for long and all are competitive raceboard sailors.

Yes I saw that add and thought you were selling one
What are your goals for the alternate board?
You seem to have so much fun on the me2 -
Maybe buy it, have some fun move it on - don’t sell the me2
Learn to master the footstraps and planing on the jpslw in powered up me2 conditions will bring more to your Windsurfing skill base
Cheers Jeff
Ps winter sailing here now in sunny qld - gusty westerlies and longboard weather already wish it was spring

Hey Jeff ...
Always good to hear from you
You are the reason I still have my JP SLW92 ....
Yes, I do love my Mistral Equipe 2 XR/MEQ2
It is my most used board and the best longboard I have owned
I thought the RSD2 might bridge the longboard and the planing world ...
Flat planing tail and Division 2 nose to cut the waves
With longboards I have stayed old school and was wondering what the
Phantoms, RS-380 or the RSD2 can offer over and above the older ones
unfortunately the new boards are quite expensive
(not just the longboards)
what i try , i would also like to be able to sell
should i decide not to retain it ....
here i just share my thoughts on potential quiver changes
and thoroughly enjoy the feedback
hope others feel inclined to share their potential quiver changes too !!

Joe, not sure what element you are looking for in a longboard since you have the Equipe, Which gets you very close to top end long race boarding with out spending some serious $$$. I've read a bunch of your posts and I'd bet you would enjoy one of the longer SUP set up for WS.
I have one that is 11'4" and a little over 200lt. My 7.5 Ezzy Cheetah will have it full board planning in a little over 10knts fun up to 18ish then I either put on a 6.0 or go to a smaller short board.
My favorite time to use it is when a storm or wind front has passed by and there are big waves and lighter winds.....pop a wave sail on and go ride. I don't worry about water starts cause their is more than enough flotation to up haul.
Hope this helps some....This is fun for me cause I'm older and slower now.

Raceboards plane just fine so I'm wondering what you expect to gain from the RSD2?

1. Get the jpslw working. Realistically once the me2 is powered up the jpslw will work. My go to setup for variable winter winds.... F2 lightning and jpslw
2. Nothing wrong for Oldskool IIRC you mainly use the me2 for the back n forth no centreboard sailing? Old longboards are great at lightwind fun used this way.
For course racing the modern boards have some early planing advantages upwind and downwind however as a reality check I include a photo from recent race board champs in which the mistral only lost on a technical issue.
There have been a few rsd2 through the local race scene and they have all been moved on. Only showing some minimal advantage in very light air and not the early planing advantage of the phantoms once the wind lifts
3. I’ll be brave and share quiver change... I’ve put a deposit on the new one designLT... why ? so I can sail with the Wally lovers as they are a great bunch of blokes and maybe pick up some skills

yes, i have enjoyed the MEQ1 and MEQ2 in light winds, planing
and at least once when all others had issues, in tougher conditions with a 7 meter sail
sometimes i even wonder if i should have stayed with the the MEQ1
currently go with no dagger and rarely adjust the mast track
the RSD2 was mostly curiosity, but the cost is still a deterrent
when i already have the MEQ2 - you have all confirmed it
was just thinking out loud ...
here is a fun session on the MEQ1 in light winds ...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOPP5pa4TAc
yes, i know i could do a lot of things better
for me it is all about TOW and FUN and i forget about the technicalities
like foot straps, etc ...
was just wondering if the RSD2 could give me more TOW and FUN
and perhaps be faster ...

nb thanks Jeff - will start carrying MEQ2 and SLW in light winds
lately it was MEQ2 and Shark 145 - hoping for more wind
the SLW handles 8.5 no problems
