i now have a handful of sessions on my isonic with the new footstraps...(the ultra slim footstraps). I can't stand them. they are light...and faily comfortable when you are in them. But getting out is the problem. i have tried to adjust them tight...loose.. my feet get stuck in them. If i make them too loose than i have minimal control. I have wiggle my feet out prior to gybing/tacking...or even coming into the beach. He is NY we have to wear booties.... maybe if one was barefoot they would be great. But i don't have any issue with my other straps (fanatic...drake....tabou).

so now i am searching to replace the straps... any comments on dakine slim footstraps ? i see in the picture they have a neoprene underside which is slippier. my starboard straps...have nothing...and they grip too much which is why i think i get stuck.

any other strap ideas ?

maybe grease the inside of my straps ? Razz

Check the width, your foot should have a bit of room on the sides, loose or tight won't make much of a difference if the sides are tight against your feet.

I understand what you are saying, same holds true with the Dakine Countour, only adjustable by using different strap holes. I prefer velcro adjustment as well for a more exact fit.

Adjustments can be different depending when riding over the rail (slalom / low wind freeride) versus riding more upright (high wind, freestyle or wave boards).

I like to lean hard over the front of the front strap while having lots of looseness towards the rear. I roll my front foot so that the top of the foot leans against the front side of the strap. My back foot is set sideways and is usually not as problematic as the front one.

So if the strap doesn't let me roll my front foot over then it's too tight. I adjust it until I can "grab" the strap with my foot. The strap is set too big when I roll my foot almost completely sideways and can't really grab the strap. Booties can have a wide sole which prevents a good grab.

Let me know if this makes sense or else I'll post a photo.

PS: I'm the guy from the video.

I'd pay good money for straps specifically designed to use with booties. I'm always going an extra insert wide and still get stuck.

I have a shitload of boards, just thinking , I dont think any have the same straps, from Kovalaski DaKine variations and Drake kite straps, Witchcraft , MOO Custom , on occasion when on a long reach the rears are tight, very rare the front. I do make a conscious effort to un loosen /wiggle my feet when starting a jibe.

I would think the less contact area, so slim would help with this.
Most of mine are non adjustable once attached. I wear booties 99.9%.

The problem I have is making the internal adjustable ones big enough to suit me. I have v.small feet.

At a clinic Wyatt Miller said to have the openings large. In and Out easy then.

No answer for you, comments only

I wear booties and if my feet are getting stuck, my straps are too tight.
