Iran is a disruptive player in the Middle East--but the same can be said about US allies Saudi Arabia and Israel. Iran is a much more modern and educated society than either Iraq or Saudi Arabia, with a certain undercurrent of resistance to the autocratic leadership. Iran was well on its way to developing nuclear weapons, and Obama, Kerry and Clinton negotiated an agreement that delayed progress towards nuclear weapons by at least a decade. Progress could not have been achieved with a bombing campaign, as advocated by Cheney, because the nuclear facilities were under mountains. Progress could not have been achieved without negotiated sanctions, which required diplomacy, and for which Clinton's part is rarely acknowledged.
Criticizing the Iran deal because it did not stop Iran's proxy war with Saudi Arabia is misguided. It's analogous to refusing to go windsurfing on a nice day because the swell isn't as big as you would like. The bet was always that providing relief from sanctions would allow more moderate elements in Iran to prevail politically. Trump has eliminated all possibility of that. Without any understanding of the benefits and costs of the Trump approach, Matty attacks it because it was an Obama accomplishment. As is often said, SAD. |
I attack it not only because it was a bad deal on it's face value, BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN A DOCUMENTED TRAIL OF LIES AND DECEIT.
Good deals pass congress, good deals don't leave our allies in harms way.
Iran laughed at our feckless clown of a president the day it was signed. |

Russia is not California. Besides the prostitutes that Putin may have provided, that's the small world Trump trolls in.
Of course California's economy is larger than Russia--and investing in California does not involve the Russian mob and the Magnitsky Act. |

Maybe he wants to stare the fat little shit down in person. Trumps has done more in a year to piss off Putin than dog-pile did in eight
I'm trying to think what obama did when Putin attacked Crimea and Ukraine.

Speaking of airheads ... what's with the stupid, naive, short-sighted, hypocritical Google leeches who are so eager to get rich from capitalism (and from spying on us) yet refuse to contribute their AI or any other technology to its defense? |

I remember reading a book on AI in the early eighties thinking bad code means bad decisions.
Now lots of code means exploiting you for capital gains! SAD!!! |

Neil deGrasse Tyson warns 'scientifically illiterate' electorate
Quote: | Astrophysicist and Director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York, Neil deGrasse Tyson joins Ari Melber to discuss when the military has a higher duty than Presidential orders and the historic importance of science and technology for National Security. Tyson also comments on the consequences of an “under-informed” electorate, noting that the “unraveling of an informed Democracy” occurs when those in power think “the wrong things about objective truths”.
