If you show up at 4:50 am, and wait for the wind to come up, no Toll.. Problem solved.

boggsman1 where you been? haven't seen you in years. still sailing or kiting? what's the deal?

Hey Kevin...I'm still sailing but I have a 14 yo baseball playing son, and the 2 seasons do not mesh very well! Crying or Very sad
I've hit the North Tower a bunch this season, a trip to the Gorge/OR Coast but that's about it....

Been there done that. My solution was to teach him to windsurf. Then no more baseball Wink

As far as Coyote I'm wondering about the development where the old drive in movie theatre used to be. Will the buildings there be an impediment to the wind after the development is finished?

Looks like 4 buildings, 6 to 8 stories. Probably will affect our launch wind, we'll see next season.
They have pictures and building plans on their website:

Looks like they are re-routing the frontage road so it will no longer go along the water north of Coyote. Shocked

The actual building (or buildings) looks like they are not re-routing Airport Blvd. So they must be deviating from the plan.

They might be doing things in stages. Use the existing front road until the main buildings are up, than reroute it. Hard to tell if the building will produce a wind shadow, given the wind direction it might not.

What is sad is that having just a ramp where people currently go fishing now would give a perfect spot to launch from ... maybe in a parallel universe ...

The next meeting [actually an open house] by the Treasure Island Mobility Management Agency (TIMMA) regarding the extraction of tolls to access the waters from TI will be tomorrow, Thursday, September 27, 2018, at 5:30 p.m., at the Shipshape Community Center, 850 Avenue I, on TI. They will be taking a survey, which is an opportunity to express your opinion. So after catching the ebb, stop by to let the bureaucrats already swimming in Regional Measure Prop 3, Prop 69 toll $$$ know how you feel. If unable to attend, sign up to take the survey here: https://www.sfcta.org/treasure-island.

For those civic minded sailors with time on your hands: here is the list of future opportunities to express your opinions:

9/27/2018, TIMMA Open House #1, 5:30p, ShipShapeCenter

10/2/2018, TIDA CAB, 6:00p, City Hall (check website)

10/3/2018, TIMMA Open House#2, 5:30p,ShipShapeCenter

10/4/2018, TIMMA Committee, 10:30a, CityHall Room 263

10/10/2018, TIDA Board, 1:30p,City Hall, Room 400

10/23/2018, TIMMA Board, 11a, City HallRoom 250

11/1/2018, TIMMA Committee, 10:30a,City Hall Room 263

11/27/2018, TIMMA Board,11a, City Hall Room 250

Finally, the person spearheading the imposition of tolls, when asked if the California Coastal Commission had approved the limiting of access by taking tolls responded as follows:

"The toll program was authorized by CA state assembly bill 981 in 2008, and included in the CEQA approval and development agreement approvals in 2011."

Uncertain, but I believe the CEQA document made a big show about providing water access for windsurfers...but maybe we missed the fine print it is only for windsurfers who can get there by bike or MUNI.

Traffic (weekend toll plaza) was so bad this summer that I've vowed to set up a e-bike and trailer and just use the fancy new bike path. One board, mast and two sails would fit and these new bikes are silly powerful. Could do it in a fraction of the hour plus it was taking in the car.

No worry parking your e-bike at TI while you're out on the water?

For a toll to TI to make sense and be fair there should be a $1.00 toll to enter and exit each and all San Francisco communities.
Why just TI?
