In North Carolina, the only way an absentee/mail in vote is supposed to be collected is by mail. Even though that's the law, some are gullible enough to have claimed that their ballot was collected at their door.

Several of the affidavits come from elderly African American voters. It is illegal to take someone else’s ballot, whether to turn it in or discard it. |
Making it legal for anyone to go door to door to collect ballots is the dumbest thing I have heard. Hopefully, there is more to the story and that "anyone" must be someone certified to collect ballots. |
Missing entirely is the legal context. In California, it is legal to go to someone's house and get--and turn in--their absentee ballot. In North Carolina it is not. Techno's scare the wing nuts source doesn't make it clear that every California ballot must be signed in order to be accepted, providing a way to check for fraud.
In North Carolina, a scumbag Republican hired a scumbag who had been previously convicted of fraud, to collect ballots. Then they would not count. The felon targeted Afrtcan American voters.
Who is proud about this? |

If it's true lock them up. I think we need a national voter id card, every legal voter should have one and a national system would record the time and place of every vote placed.... |

So it's legal, are you willing to say that the law is a good law? How does a signed ballot guarantee that it will be turned in, or that the "collector" didn't influence the voter in some way if the ballot hadn't yet been completed? Legal, but dumb, dumb, dumb. |

California has a non-partisan Commission to establish legislative districts. A reform by Arnold S., probably his greatest contribution to America.
I think California's law allowing organizations to gather absentee ballots is far superior to North Carolina's forbidding it--and the various GOP efforts to suppress voting of minorities. |

GOP suppressing minorities is complete BS.. Clearing out the dead names and setting reasonable times and places to register and vote is the right thing to do. Making special rules for the lazy and disconnected is their problem. |

What a intellectual non-tinker you are.
There is only one party that has lost case after case in court for supression... geee low-IQ/low level non-thinker which party has been found guilty on many occasions... _________________ when good people stay silent the right wing are the only ones heard. |

only in america are you guilty before proven innocent. Again it is the government that must prove their lies when such an important issue of right to vote. Not the other way around that right wingers want it. again I say if a person without a jury of our peers removes people voting rights with no trial they should be put in jail. _________________ when good people stay silent the right wing are the only ones heard. |
