a guy gives up his career and goes to jail to expose the racist and right wing nature of the FBI...

This really takes guts. It is a shame there is no other way for agents who witness this to let the public know. Ya the right wing hates the FBI for investigating Trump. But love it when someone that is trying to stop the real abuse goes to jail because they want to protect the racism of the FBI.

https://theintercept.com/2018/10/18/terry-albury-sentencing-fbi/

Quote:
In court filings, his lawyers described Albury as “a consummate professional,” a devoted husband and father of two small children with an impeccable record and little time left to a comfortable retirement. “Why would someone with such a stellar career, a history of probity, young children, and just three years from a pension, jeopardize all he had?” they wrote in a sentencing memo. “The answer lies in the FBI’s own checkered history with race.”

“His objective in disclosure was to alert the U.S. public to practices and procedures that he believed represented both a systemic departure from the FBI’s proper mission in counterterrorism, and abuses of the enormous investigative authority the FBI has been granted since 9/11,” the lawyers argued.

In an online fundraiser set up to help cover his legal fees, friends of Albury wrote that, at the FBI, “he soon found himself immersed in an institutional culture that, in his view, demeaned, demonized, harassed, and intimidated the very people he was sworn to protect and serve.”

“Worse yet,” they added, “Terry was required to implement FBI investigative directives that sanctioned the use of race and religion as basis for targeting wide swaths of communities throughout Minnesota, and other locations in which he served.”

The government, for its part, has argued that Albury was a criminal, who, over an 18-month period, stole information from more than 70 documents, including about 50 classified ones, taking photographs and copying and pasting them in order to avoid detection. The FBI claims, offering no specifics, that his actions could harm national security.

this one is the proof...

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/1/20/1828039/-An-amazing-admission-by-a-former-FBI-official?detail=emaildkre

An amazing admission by a former FBI official

Quote:
Terry Turchie, former Deputy Assistant Director at the FBI on Tucker Carlson’s show:

Quite honestly the electorate in some places is putting more and more progressive and self described socialists in positions and, uh, ironically, years ago when I first got into the FBI one of the missions of the FBI in its counter-intelligence efforts was to try and keep these people out of government. Why? Because we would end up with massive disfunction and massive disinformation and massive misinformation.”

The FBI (and Ken Starr) leaked like a sieve during the hunt for Bill Clinton.

And again during the hunt for Hillary Clinton.

And generally it has targeted progressive causes.

Occupy Wall Street gets targeted, but Wall Street does not.

Now we know why. The FBI is awash with right wingers. (duh)

Turchie forgot he wasn’t supposed to say that out loud.

James Kallstrom

Quote:
James K. Kallstrom (born May 6, 1943)[1] is a former FBI Assistant Director from Worcester, Massachusetts. He led the investigation into the 1996 explosion of TWA Flight 800.[2] He was a supervising agent in the New York investigation of the Cosa Nostra criminal network that resulted in the Mafia Commission Trial of 1985–1986.[3] Kallstrom worked for 27 years at the FBI[4] and has been described as an expert in wiretapping.[5] During his career at the FBI he was a leading advocate of expanding wiretapping power through the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). He is a former Marine captain and Vietnam veteran.[5] He left the public sector for private sector employment in the financial industry beginning in 1998.[4] After the 9/11 attacks, Kallstrom returned to the public sector to lead New York state's public safety office.[6][7]

In the 2016 presidential election, Kallstrom supported Donald Trump and has referred to Hillary Clinton and the Clinton family as being criminal-like.[2][8] He called the Clinton Foundation a "cesspool".[9] Kallstrom has established relationships with Rush Limbaugh and Fox News to further his work to promote the Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation (MC-LEF), a charitable organization of which he is the Chairman of the Board.[1][a] On Fox News, Kallstrom accused United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch of bias by behaving as if she were part of the Democratic National Committee.[11]

In March 2018, Kallstrom declared on Fox News that both President Obama and former CIA Director John Brennan had committed felonies in trying to keep Hillary Clinton from being indicted. "It goes right to the top, and it involves that whole strategy. They were going to win [the 2016 election], nobody would ever know this stuff, and they just unleashed the intelligence community," Kallstrom continued. Kallstrom was not asked if this was to help Clinton, why the information on the Russian investigation was not leaked to the press prior to the election.[12]

In April 2018, Kallstrom criticized Brennan and CNN's James Clapper on Fox News saying "no doubt there is a cabal – to diminish his (Trump’s) ability to manage the country."[13]

He was also a host on the show The FBI Files.

Quote:
Yet though McCabe has been harshly criticized by President Donald Trump and his allies for months for supposed anti-Trump bias, he’s been investigated for and may be charged about a different topic entirely — that is, his purported attempts to mislead about his role in a leak at Hillary Clinton’s expense.

The gist is that McCabe orchestrated a leak to a Wall Street Journal reporter shortly before the 2016 election, describing private deliberations he’d had with Obama Justice Department officials about an investigation of the Clinton Foundation. McCabe leaked that he had tried to keep this investigation moving forward, over an unnamed Justice Department official’s resistance. His motivation for leaking about this pending investigation, it appeared, was to rebut an earlier Journal article raising questions about his impartiality in the Clinton email probe, and a planned follow-up piece along similar lines.

GOP's transcript release gambit backfires upon actual reading

Rachel Maddow takes a closer look at what is actually said in newly released congressional testimony transcripts of Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, and notes that Republican hopes that releasing the transcripts will serve their political ends are not well supported by the actual content of the transcripts.

fbi official tweets 485
Several newspaper reports suggested that the timing of the Clinton Foundation tweet—coming four days after FBI Director James Comey had announced the re-opening of the Hillary Clinton email investigation—was “further evidence of FBI meddling” in the 2016 election.

III. Relevant Standards
In this section we identify the regulations from the Standards of Ethical
Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch Standards of Ethical Conduct), 5
C.F.R. Part 2635, relevant to our analysis.
464
A. Personal and Business Relationships Creating an Appearance of
a Conflict 5 C.F.R. § 2635.502
Personal and Business Relationships Creating an Appearance of a Conflict 5
C.F.R. § 2635.502 (Section 502) establishes the analytical framework for
determining when a federal employee has an appearance of a conflict of interest.
As discussed in greater detail in Chapter Thirteen of this report, Section 502
requires an employee to consider the appearance of his participation in a particular
matter involving specific parties (1) that is likely to have a direct and predictable
effect on the financial interest of a household member or (2) if the employee has a
covered relationship with someone who is a party or represents a party to the
matter. Section 502 also includes catchall provision which may apply to “other
circumstances” that would lead a reasonable person to question an employee’s
impartiality in a matter.
A recused employee is prohibited from participating in the matter unless
authorized by the agency designee based on a determination that the Government’s
interest “in the employee’s participation outweighs the concern that a reasonable
person may question the integrity of the agency’s programs and operations.” 5
C.F.R. § 2635.502(d). According to OGE, a proper recusal requires “that an
employee avoid any official involvement in a covered matter.” OGE 99 x 8 at 2.
B. Use of Non-public Information 5 C.F.R. § 2635.703
Section 703 of the Standards of Ethical Conduct, 5 C.F.R. § 2635.703, states:
“An employee shall not…allow the improper use of nonpublic information to further
his own private interest or that of another, whether through advice or
recommendation, or by knowing unauthorized disclosure.”
C. Use of Public Office for Private Gain 5 C.F.R. § 2635.702
Section 702 of the Standards of Ethical Conduct, 5 C.F.R. § 2635.702, states:
“An employee shall not use his public office…for the private gain of friends,
relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental
capacity….”
According to commentary to Section 702, “[i]ssues relating to an individual
employee’s use of public office for private gain tend to arise when the employee’s
actions benefit those with whom the employee has a relationship outside the
office…”. 57 Fed. Reg. 35030 (Aug. 7, 1992)
