LHDR--I don't pretend to understand morphology in Northern Africa. But I understand it very well in San Francisco and Monterey Bays, and there are certain parallels.

First, current estimates of the age of the Sahara is about 7 million years. It is vast, and clearly was formed by very significant geologic events. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science/sahara-millions-years-older-thought-180952735/

In contrast, the pyramids were built about 5000 years ago, well after the dramatic changes in sea level that accompanied the end of the last ice age. In California during the end of the last ice age, San Francisco Bay was a valley--sea level was about 300 feet lower and the ocean was well off shore, about at the Farallon's. Monterey Bay existed--but well off shore. The most significant factor was that rivers were much steeper in their lower reaches--flowing much faster and transporting huge volumes of sediment. This would have been true to some degree of the Nile as well. In San Francisco Bay, the sea only reached the Bay about 8,000 years ago, and rapid sea level rise was largely over by about 5000 years ago. That means all the sedimentary features we see--hundreds of feet of marsh and mudflats--formed in the blink of an eye in geologic terms, and in the history of human settlement.

The Nile River is much greater in flow than the Sacramento and San Joaquin that formed San Francisco's Bay sedimentary features, or the Salinas River, which carved the Monterey Canyon. An additional 2-300 feet of hydraulic head over the lower portion of the river certainly meant even more flow and rapid sedimentation in the lower river basin and along the Mediterranean coastline. The scale of those changes, although huge, is in turn dwarfed by the scale of the Sahara--which is the size of much of central Asia. Which means that the climate of this area was very different than that of the Sahara at the time the pyramids were built.

The consistent theme in these postings by Bard and others are 1) no citation to what ginned them up in the first place; 2) no deeper understanding--or interest--in context; and 3) a kind of gleeful--but wrong--gotcha that they've posted something scientific that means global warming isn't happening, or God is really in charge. Very sad.

“Why were efforts made to continue investigating the President, interrupt his official capacity in governing, if the only doc presented was unsubstantiated and unverified?” “Why were questions and threat of subpoena communicated to the President if no factual foundation existed?”
“All charges thus far are unrelated to the original mandate - why are you still active and pursuing a crime if no verifiable evidence or evidence through discovery exists?”

Barr to RR:
“What justification did you have to effectively expand the mandate, not report that expansion to Congress, in order to seek a crime outside of Russia collusion?”

“What specific reasoning and/or facts existed to justify the appointment of a Special Counsel to begin with per the law?” “Why did you recommend to Sessions that he should recuse?” “Why wasn’t the mandate / budget and regular updates provided to Congress upon request?” “Why is everything kept confidential and under inappropriate classification?” “Was the purpose of investigating to find a crime vs investigate evidence of a crime?”

So Diane Feinstein gets a visit from a bunch of elementary school kids demanding that she adopts the Green New Deal, she basically says no for a great reason, no way to pay for it.

On it's surface, it doesn't seem like much of a story, but what it does illustrate is the indoctrination that our youth is experiencing in school, and it starts at a very young age. I find this incredibly troubling, they are not getting the complete story, only the socialistic view of it, nothing more. Those kids were stumped by Feinstein's reaction and explanation.
Our current education system is seriously fucked up, they are taking political advantage of their impressionable minds which is NOT their job, especially in elementary school!

The more telling phenomenon is the hypocrisy of the right. This was a non-profit group. Of course, the most notorious non-profit groups in the countries are religious. Like the Catholics students that marched in an anti-abortion march with MAGA hats. Of course they weren't indoctrinated, and of course, the Catholic Church should continue their tax-free status despite their covering up thousands of sexual abuse crimes. But public schools are to blame for the teaching of a non-profit NGO that is actually backed by science. What passes for reasoning when you have drunk the "conservative" kool aid.

The flap is more indication of our tribal status. Feinstein is right, the measure will not pass the Senate. Whatever they may think of the science, they will march in lock-step with their big carbon donors.
