I heard some company sells stingray-proof neoprene booties. Anyone
know the company name or any contact info ? Last weekend I stepped
on a big one and almost got hit.
Thanks,
Tom

I dont know the company but I have some useful advise about this subject.
When ever you are walking in an area with alot of bottom life (rays crabs and flounder) You should always drag your feet. This in essence kicks what ever is in front of you out of the way. Also the cloud of sand may scare away the critters too. Rays only sting when they are stepped on and they try to get away fast. I have strarted doing this ever since I stepped on a big flounder, aND ALMOST SHIT IN MY WETSUIT. Now I drag my feet and I have felt many things on the bottom other than sand, not sure what they were, but havent had anymore problems.
P.S. we also have alot of rays in the Chesapeake bay too. |
