|
|
At 12:25 am Thursday the 7th My life long '88 metalic red Vanagon Syncro license # WNDZRFR was professionally stolen from Emeryville.
Two low life white males 30-50 yrs old drove a stolen Nissan from San Pablo city into my complex, left it and drove away with my van. It took them 3 minutes without any broken glass and were wearing gloves.
All my windsurfing gear was in my van. So if you see any: Starboard (3 Futuras 107, 97, 93), Loft Sails (5 Oxygens), Neil Pryde Fusion HD green, Chinook booms, Drake or FinWorks or TrueAims Fins 8 of them etc. on the side of the road or for sale please contact me.
This fing sucks like I can't believe.

I can't help but admire how well you organized your van..unlike mine. I need Marie Kondo to help me organize. I do hope your van is found intact and undamaged.

Thanks all,
I'm just trying to get the message out to as many people as possible, you never know.
Yes there is surveillance from 3 different cameras picking up the two thieves here and there but no help for the police especially since they drove in and left a stolen car!
Insurance is tricky since Farmers Claims always says Windsurfers are watercraft. But my 35 yr long agent says the gear was locked in my van and in the garage abet one without gates but never the less he says this goes under Homeowners and should be covered. The claims adjuster (just to get the ball rolling since they wait a week to two before they decide the van/gear isn't coming back) said to me there is a $500 limit on watercraft. I said that won't work since there was $10k of gear. He said he would have to talk to my agent around noon. I said you do that! Haven't heard back from him.
And then there is of course the Vanagon which I already know is going to be a major fight over value.
This is why finding anything would be better than not.
I personally know many of you that have had your vehicle/gear ripped off and I now know what it feels like - what you had before will always be better than whatever the outcome after.
Thanks everyone!

A friend heard from a friend and saw it by Home Depot in Oaktown tonight, called me and I rushed over. She says the Latino driver got spooked when she tried to follow him and since they were suddenly in a real sketch neighborhood she gave up.
I got over there and canvased every block of Gingletown for about an hour or two until I ran into to parked OPD’s. Got them to search also. I had already called it in but hadn’t heard anything. We all split up. 15 minutes later I get a call We Have Your Van!
Ended up back over by HD. Body intact and it runs! Nothing that wasn’t from the factory left in the interior though. They tore up the metal dash for the stereo and ripped out the speakers. Oh and it doesn’t like to turn very well, fixable.
OPD said to check the weekend flea markets like Coliseum for the gear as they will just say they found it when caught trying to sell it.
So I know where I’ll be on the weekends!
Thanks everyone for your good wishes now to find my gear!
Carl
Oh and they couldn’t remove my license plate so they tore it off leaving a circle of plate where I used the special bolts.
