What's your favorite sail size to sail? I'm at 5.5 |

68 kgs / 150 lbs, 4.0 to 5.0.
5.0 really if I need (which I do) 16-27 knots.
4.5 has been working well for me so long as I have 19 solid knots.
4.0 when it's strong and still fun. _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |

My 4.7 is right up there but don't have a smaller board to optimize it. |

That depends on wind speed & type of sailing. Wave, B&J-Freeride, Freestyle, Slalom, Formula, Foil or Kona for me.

It depends where your sailing. For me, I typically find the smoothest and most enjoyable wave sailing conditions when winds are in the 5.5 range. The swells are nicely rolling, wave face fairly clean and you don't have the smaller chop that develops on the swell as winds increase. For flat water and B&J, I love my 4.7.

In the waves a powered 5.2 day can be the best. Smooth faces and less chop. Flat water my largest sail I have is a 5.8 Its small enough to do a few tricks and pretty fast when powered... Bad back for me so the smoother the water the better... |

Probably my most liked sail size is 5.0, because it is small enough to muscle through some pretty strong winds, but still powerful enough to work through some of the lulls too. A very rangy sail size overall.
That said, I think that its important to identify my least liked sail size. That would be anything in the 6 through 6 meter plus sizes. They've alway been a problem for me, and I've never been satisfied with their performance. On the other hand, 7.0 and above (up to 8.3) sails have always be great for me, so it's not really a disdain for larger sails. That's why I'm a strong advocate for jumping from a 5.7 to a 7.0 |

coachg says it like it is
what board type and wind conditions
example I go from a longboard MEQ2 with a 10 meter sail (light wind)
to ...
a Fanatic BEE LTD 124 with a 6.3 meter sail (medium wind)
and i am not comfortable to go in bigger wind, smaller board , etc
my favourite sails would have to be NS/DUO Duke 6.9 and HSM Speedfreak 8.5
and in the winter HSM Fire 6.3
