My own personal 2009 Infinity 7.5 is going thru the same failure. It's the only hiccup I've experienced with the sail. |

Received very prompt and informative emails from David Ezzy
Could be a combination of the abuse I heap upon the sails
I carry the sails on my head - this puts extra strain on the window luff tube area
I also leave my sails fully rigged when camping by the lake. This may extenuated or develop the failures - he gave me some useful suggestions on taking the strain of rigged sails
He posted through a suggested repair schedule - passed this onto my sail man.
So looks like I'm a doing a good job of testing the durability on the Ezzy sails
All good possible reasons for the damage. For me it still doesn't explain why my infinities haven't suffered the same fate. Given these are older and suffered more of the abuse.
Will have a closer look at the infinities to see if any design differences
Cheers Jeff |

I checked both my 7.5 and 9.5 and didn't see this issue with either sail. I'm curious to hear to what advice Dave gave about taking the stress off the sail without having to de-rig the whole thing.
Thanks. |

Firstly (in my defence) reason for keeping sails rigged...when Im camping the workload of keeping 3 sailers plus the odd beginner on the water is a little too much. Some say Im a little too generous creating the opportunity for others to have a go. Its my way of paying a little back into the sport. Hence I often have up to 6-7 sails setup ready to go.
I usually let off downhaul and out haul.
David was more specific suggesting:>>>>>>>
1) Release downhaul.
2) Snap cams off the mast
3) Let the outhaul tension off
For your mast:
1) Tape it at the joint.
2) Use a marking pen and make a mark at the bottom of the mast.
3) Every time you go sailing rotate the mark 180 degrees.
>>>>>
This is doable so i will change my practices with the cams.
Keeps the gear together and reasonably quick turnaround if I come in to change sail size.

Update...
I’ve now been using the gen 2 lions ... with a lot more care as per suggestions in this thread.
They are 2 seasons old and developing the same holes in the same location.
I’m struggling to know what I can do differently in my management of these sails. My old infinity 8.5 passed on to a mate remains undamaged in this common area
I’m now exploring other sail options while I get my Ezzy s reinforced

I hope you're not still carrying them on your head. To hell with the sail; that damages our neck vertebra in the long term. |

Original post is 2 and 1/2 years ago,
I don’t see the year of the Lions? The Infinity’s would now be considered past their sell by date, past prime.
I wonder if some material that was used in your sails and others that encountered similar problems was sub standard.
I don’t feel that Ezzy should be responsible for older( define older ?sails ) to the degrees they are warranted.
LLBEAN, used to have a no holds barred return warranty, no questions, in the past few years that changed to 1 year from purchase. prior that purchase date the original warranty, replacement still applies. _________________ K4 fins
