Are there any sails that stand out from all the rest that are good at handling gusting conditions?
10mph gusting upwards of 30 mph for example. |

You have to think in terms of wind averages. Without that, it all becomes very meaningless. |

Rip in the gusts, trick in the lulls. |

Sails with stable profile where the draft is well locked help. Ezzy's are like that. Most Neilprydes sail well. Models can vary and year to year too.
With cambers the profile is well locked in place but the will become heavy and slow to maneuver (better for speed than tricks).
Also, some sails that have good high end may suffer at the low end. Example gaastra Manic. Then there's personal preferences, weight and style of sailing.
I used to like to be underpowered to powered most times, now I like powered at a minimum. It may evolve too. _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |

Mine do, but then everyone thinks their sails are superior. If they didn't, they'd buy something else. |

I like Northwaves for gusty conditions. They have a soft feel, that mitigates
the harshness of punchy gusts that slam sailors on stiffer sails. Some
people call that squishy, I call it easy.

p.s. 10 to 30 is pretty hateful no matter how good your sail is.

I have my smallest Northwaves tailor-made for that soft feel. A big step is using vinyl windows in the 3.x sizes so the well-over-gale-force gusts don't hurt so much. Next step is special battens in the larger sizes to boost foil stability when it's way past time to rig down.
I've always rigged to plane in most of the lulls, if possible. It increases my planing time and teaches me the skills to handle -- usually even enjoy -- too much wind. That's an extremely valuable skill. |

Whenever a manufacturer calls it their "control" model that is what you want. Also more battens means a more stable sail which will handle gusts better. There is always a trade off usually less low end power but you can always rig a bit bigger if your sail has great range. |

10–30 is ridiculous.
If the number of battens made the A list on sails they would all have 7 battens then.
I would consider Ezzy.
