|
|
One of the big guys at the lake decided to give foiling a try. He almost never could get anything smaller that a 6.5 going and often needed a 8.5 to plane.
His third time out and he is flying on the infinity 76 wing and a 5.5 Cheetah.
He had a smile on his face the whole time. Until he came in and found that the front of the wing is splitting. Been out on mine about 10 times and so far no issues. This wing is really good for lite wind and balance. Forgiving for sure. Durability might be a major issue. |

Slingshot had a bad batch of the Infinity 76. They'll send a new one, just have your friend contact them. |

Wonder what a minor issue would be. _________________ K4 fins

Minor issue might be something like weed caught on the leash and hitting a fish when really leaning on the front foot.
Major issue for me would be hitting a harbor seal or young seal at speed and injuring the poor thing.
Lots of sea life in San Francisco bay the past several years. |

Yep the replacement is in the works. Still a hassle and a week without his foil. I wonder why Sling Shot wouldn't get these bad wings off the market. Makes for bad publicity. |

The front of the wing is splitting, some strong weeds. _________________ K4 fins

the defective wings seem to fail pretty quickly (within the first few days). a major PITA for sure and it sucks to be without a wing while waiting for warranty fulfillment, but at least Slingshot is really quick about it (especially if you're on the west coast). A customer of mine bent a mast. I was able to replace his on the spot with my own stock knowing that Slingshot would warranty it and get me a replacement in two days. _________________ Kevin Kan

My 76 is splitting at the wing tips after 7 sailings. Bought it a month ago and I've not hit anything or run it aground coming in. Is this the beginning of a full split of the wing? My 84 is still fully intact after almost a year with many more sailings and abuse. Clearly the 76 is lighter and probably more fragile than the 84 or H2 wings. |
