So a couple more miles of coast covered in my endeavor to windsurf the whole coast of Santa Cruz County. This is from Davenport Landing to Scott Creek and back. Plus a bit of playing on the swells. This is the first effort of the attack on the North County. Track below: [img][/img]

I've done that one more than a few times when the waves went flat and I got bored. You can usually find something to ride just above the point. There are a couple of small beaches on the way up to Scotts that are only accessible via boat/windsurfer. I've never done it when its big, as it would be too dangerous.

I always thought it would be cool to launch at Waddell and climb up to Ano Nuevo to explore the outside point where the old mansion sits. I hear it's now the domain of the elephant seals and they like to hang out inside at the spa.

Another one to do is launch at Gazo's and head up to the lighthouse to get some of those side off super clean waves. Just gotta watch out for the rocks!

Did both the latter back in the '80's.
Launched at downwind Ano and sailed 2nd reef around surfer's point, but no farther up. Wind a bit too onshore for good dtl, and 4-5' still a bit weak.
Did Lighthouse but launched at the low cut on the cliffs right off the highway, but it's rolling flat swells from the Lighthouse to the easy launch...but semi challenging cliff descent of 30'
or 25. Rigged at mid tide beach and beachstarted out on 8'10" Haut assy wave.

OK, so today did the stint from Waddell to San Mateo & Back. A couple of Hang-gliders aloft when I arrived as well as two kiters out. No windsurfers. Sailed on past the county line into San Mateo. The county line is about where the black dot with the white center is on the track below. I did not go as far as the Ano Nuevo Island, just to the base of the peninsula. Wind came up about then and I felt I should head back in case it got so strong, my 6.1 sail would become unwieldy. Some big swell and waves out there today. Two windsurfers out and seventeen kiters out when I got back. A few more windsurfers launched while I was de-rigging.

Good to hear from Lee D and Gerritt about their treks. I had done the Davy to Scotts before, but it was a long time ago and I am trying to complete this endeavor this summer.

Some intrique sailing the outside reefs N of Ano also, but requiring a hike in with your gear thru cattlegates.
Setups similar to Venice Beach in HMB, but kelp beds and farther out reefs out in the wind zone. Best on light NW days.

They call that "Two Trees" now - since there are 2 trees down the path from the cattle gates. Kiters do that one all the time. I've yet to take the plunge. I'm told it's about a mile hike from the gates to the launch. I don't have a set of wheels for my rig, otherwise, I'd be on it.

Thanks.
It's about HALF the walk to PaloMarin, and no cliff to scale to boot.

South west. The direction is off to the south by around 70 degrees.

Zero kites that cannot really get out in these conditions. The windfoils have no problem getting to the remote wind line and they seem to be doing fine. It is Sunday and there are quite a lot of windsurfers and a couple of friends tell me that the outside is good.

It looks good, but it also looks very up and down and I am not desperate enough to do the long slogging back and forth to the wind line or risk a swim ... so I chat happily on the beach, go have a look at the Severne FOX 95, and eventually go back for a nice MTB ride in GG Park. Very Happy Second day in a row I do that. Is it the new normal? A few days or wind and than back to flaky? Good for aerobic conditioning, and MTB is fun and so much simpler than windsurfing! but hopefully just for this season Shocked

Not good enough?
Pt.Isabelle has been 4.5 wind.
San Pablo Bay has been well over 25 for a week.

Hello Lee, I am aware that the east Bay might work on a SW or when the West Bay is under the fog (I have been sailing these waters since 1986!). Problem is that the East Bay, or even TI, is not reachable from San Francisco unless one wants to drive 2-2.5 hours plus round trip. Larkspur is closer to my home but to take the GG bridge on Saturday/Sunday is not so wise ... During the week it might be an option if one leaves very early, but I have other stuff to do in the morning other than windsurfing. Shocked Shocked Shocked

So more MTB today! I am getting in very good shape!
