Does your board have a mast track? The smaller the sail, the farther back the sail should be. If you have it too far forward, you won't be able to tack or go upwind.
Are you going to teach her that windsurfing is just sailing back and forth? The people we are teaching seem to enjoy easily sailing upwind, and then learning how to sail downwind. |

It doesn't have a very long track, it's as far back as it can be. The other thing we do is rig it with the extension at maximum length, which leaves a large gap at the foot. But it helps get the center of effort back when tacking.

My initial goal has been to get her confidently sailing back to the start point. Enjoying sailing downwind is the next step! |
