|

Looks like World Sailing has a survey out about the equipment for the 2024 Olympics, after the suggestion to keep using the RS:X was shot down. There's only about 5 days left to leave feedback, just in case anyone has an opinion on the matter.
The survey is here.
This is the original post on the Seabreeze forum:

Re: Survey - 2024 Men's and Women's Windsurfer equipment selection
World Sailing is now inviting manufacturers and Class Associations to tender to be selected as the Men's and Women's Windsurfer equipment to be used at the 2024 Olympic Sailing Competition. More information can be found here
We are kindly asking the windsurfing community to answer a few questions regarding the Windsurfing equipment for the next Olympic Games.
Two forms are available: A form for RS:X windsurfers: forms.gle/Jx3zXNecrVgPVV8c7A form intended for members of the windsurfer community other than RS:X windsurfers: forms.gle/DgJNkv2K3GhEkaHh7
The answers will provide feedback to the Working Party for their consultation,
The surveys will be open until Sunday 28th July,
Thank you for your contribution,
Jaime Navarro Head of Technical & Offshore

Answered as well, in favor of foiling.
I wish they'd asked about willingness to spectate. For me foiling is far better than RS:X to watch. |

Drying paint is better than RS:X to watch.

I also voted for foiling for the 2024 Olympics. By then, the shape and speed of foils may astound us. |

Couldn't agree more. Even raceboard and formula are more exciting.
What they really need are onboard and drone feeds. The pulled back aerial shots don't show speed well at all.
Bert: hopefully they choose a foil/board combo which is fairly even across a wide range of sailor weights and allow at least the foil wings to be updated over time. |

I'm surprised that, in a sport that we all participate in here, folks are voting for what they would like to WATCH. I'd like to see the new Windsurfer LT. It's accessible to so many. Getting the opportunity to race with Olympians again would be awesome. |

I'd consider owning Olympic gear if it is a foil setup. I'll never own a LT, I think many people feel the same.
I guarantee that the LT will make poor TV and believe it or not but viewer numbers play a huge role in a sport continuing to be present. That's why they switched Raceboard to RS:X, it was supposed to be better to watch (it wasn't unless it's windy). |

Everyone who indicated that they voted for foiling actually foils. I like longboards and have 4 of them, but the only time I used one was when we had just one foil and had to share it. We've got two now, so the longboards won't see the water for a while. |
