My 85L wave board has a domed deck so there's still some volume out back but more concentrated in the middle. With thinner rails it can dig into the water and turn well controlling bouncing yet the tail resists sinking when slogging.

In a way that sounds like the wider of my two boards. The thinner railed turns better even though it's wider (but the tail is narrow).

I've noticed that my 85L single and 95L quad slog very similarly but the Quad climbs white water better and I think that is because the volume is under the mast. I'd have to look (they are in different countries right now) but I think the Quad has a flatter deck even though the tail is wider (but shorter).

Boards are definitely more than just a set of numbers and adding a foil makes a significant static stability difference. Now if only the manufacturers could get on floating foils to add a couple of liters worth of volume rather than the anchor I'm currently using.

Yeah, with a alu foil attached, my 122 Hover floats worse than my 111 Isonic-Futura, my 109 Supersport, and even my 105 Naish Freeride-JP X-cite.

Yes it's worth a good -5L or so, but easier to uphaul or tack.

Still I'd like a manufacturer other than Horue to make one that floats. Especially with a big surf wing.
