This is the most hijacked deal I've ever seen.

That's hilarious!
All I see is three blank pages with a rogue's gallery of killfiled jerks listed down the left side, plus three posts directly addressing BM's opener and one post reinforcing my observation about the inconsistency of the ordnance and shutdowns BM opened with. There's no snark there to pollute the view from my home office window. Now, doesn't this beat looking at three pages of ad hominem BS?

If you're trying to figure out how to access somewhere that's closed you're missing the point. The closures aren't to make travel difficult for people. It's to get them to stay home.

According to Port of HR the ramp at the Hook is open as long as everyone is practicing appropriate social distancing. That is where you can sail. Wishing everyone well.

I will bet money that each person has violated the letter and spirit of the law somehow. And that is why I asked this question (yet to be answered). It is a relevant question as it gets to the bigger question of whether it is better to be pragmatic or simply obedient. It also reveals hypocrisy and ought to generate humility to improve the quest for truth.

I vote for pragmatic.

It would be great if everybody obeyed. But I know they won't. So how about some ideas. I like the idea of mask on the beach. But leave promptly. A mask is not a license to pose. I'm turning this into a bumper sticker.

As a pragmatist, I believe it is going to happen. So do it ad safely and considerately as possible.

Howz about the idea that you take some responsibility to insure your safety , those around you, ( should you have any) and those you contact on your adventures ?
Stop speculating what the world is doing, making mask jokes ,using
the word pragmatic , down to Earth or reasonable : my ass.
I would really like to insult your intelligence in a sentence that indicates it’s level.
But I’m being reasonable instead. I would really like to think you are deliberately amping up readers, both of us to receive attention, nah, one of these

Internet trolls are people who want to provoke and upset others online for their own amusement.

I see the law (governor decrees) being flouted; people are traveling to go shred in the Gorge! So I suggested practical ideas to increase safety. I solicited for other ideas, because I know I have blind spots. Also, I believe several brains are smarter than one.

A few ideas came out: I said shred and be considerate with parking, time, and space and ask questions. U2U2U2 believes strict obedience to decrees is the only way. H2OJoe says go shred at The Hook and maintain spacing. Westender says wear mask on the beach. I may have missed some. Sorry; I don't "live" online.

I don't think discussion of ideas needs to devolve to a sense of moral superiority, rage and consequent ad hominem and polarization of people into simply good and evil or us and them. When it does, I think it's a good example of how successful the intentional disruption of our society has been via various psychological campaigns, domestic and international. Also, it could be an example of needing to get out of isolation. Because isolation is one of the biggest problems of our time.

I recently read a very interesting article in the New York Times about Putin's highly-successful effort to weaken and ruin American society. Resist these efforts by first being aware and then making the effort to change. You don't need to always agree with the NYT to appreciate good investigative journalism.
No, it's not for Libs or Conservatives. It's for everybody.
