Will Lopez happen this year or is water level too far down?

Just enough water to still windsurf for now. A buddy on a 5.5/100Lish enjoyed it just a few days ago. Easier to foil and stay upwind by the buoys than WSing. Expect it to be too shallow sometime in July, but hard to predict right now. It's a pretty short reach for me on a foil now with a 15 second run and turn. Yet fun when it's blowing 20+ and nowhere else is working. There's a little muck walk to the wind line and don't go too deep on the far side as some stick ups are there for you. Continues to be fun if you know the place and how to work it and warmer than the ocean.

Better for foiling than windsurfing. Easier to stay up wind on the foil.
I am local so its just a short drive up there. I hit it on a very windy day. Solid 5.5. Its so short that I barely had time to get into both straps and it was time to turn. You can't go down wind at all. It gets shallow quickly with stick ups every where. Sailing hard to wind all the time isn't that much fun. I won't go up again until we get more water next year. I hope....Tony

Absolutely Not a good place to learn foiling, winging or fin right now. If you get slightly down wind on a foil you will run a ground. You need to be able to get on foil and head up wind asap. If not you will end up hitting bottom or walking back in knee deep water in the weeds and sticks. Learning to windsurf where there is zero room to go down wind is asking for trouble and frustration. Its tough enough for newbies when they can go down wind and walk back. If you fall near any of the sticks you will get all scratched up and most likely poke holes in your sail.
When the OP asked for the conditions at Lopez lake, I would assume he or she wanted a opinion from people who live and sail there. Not someone who lives 300 miles away and never sails there.

Hey, I logged my 6 days there, 3 sailing with George Greenough.
But you're correct, I also got 40 days at Jalama.

Learn wing, NOT foil.
Paddle back upwind, not walk.
Go ONE run out, then come back to launch.
Don't just stupidly stay out for hours.

From a few days ago... 11 seconds and turn, 11 seconds and turn, and using a rock foil.
