As I stated in my previous message related to above subject, I dont like posting these typ of message, but the fact that interested parties try to hide these types of events have led me to bring them to the public.

Ive heard the story second hand but from somebody that saw it. It happened last week, and it appears that a french national was bitten on his leg in chest deep water. I dont know whether he lost his leg, but I know he was unable to travel.

This is the second event in a month. Whats going on? In the last few years Margarita has hardly had any such accident and 2 in a month? There is no food for sharks in the area any more?

I have been to Margarita twice and I loved it. I dont have any hidden agenda. I just want to inform windsurfers of events that interested parties are, understandably, quite keen to hide.

Hope it is the last for a very long time.

See you in the water.

In response to the posting of 23/5 by ieborrondo
I would think that the first people to hear of such an occurance as this would be those of us that live here in Margarita and sail these same waters on a daily basis.
I have lived and sailed here in El Yaque, Margarita for 13 years and (until April 11th) had not seen any sharks (dolfins, turtles and whales, yes) or heard of any attacks by sharks in these waters or any other parts of Margarita for that matter.
The unfortunate incident of this past April 11th was unprecedented and was duely reported by the people at Vela in thier monthly news letter. Your posting of a second attack without basis of fact is irresponsible.
Accusing your so called interested parties of covering up the facts is absurd-if Vela is not an interested party who is?
So I suggest you spend more time on the water sailing and less time at your keyboard spreading unfounded rumors.
Its 30 knots and I`m going sailing!!!

Judging by your response, youre definitively an interested party.

My message was not at all irresponsible, just telling the truth that people like you are trying to hide to defend your interests. How many people will decide to go somewhere else is they knew there have been 2 attacks in a month?

People are entitled to have the information and then decide based on it.

Your derogatory message cannot hide the truth : there have been 2 shark attacks in Margarita in a month.

See you in the water.

Sorry, but YOU are wrong. Only one attack. End of story. (what is your connection to Margarita?!) I live in El Yaque about 7 months of the year, so I think I am a bit more qualified to respond to any happenings in Margarita. You all missed some great sailing this winter thanks to the Venezuelan government. No crowds on the water, and a ton of wind.
