Just scored yet another wind and wave filled trip to no mans land.
3 days of 4.5 logo high solo sessions at the Chili Bowl.
Is windsurfing a dying sport?

The second half of the road is not in good shape. Makeable though, and well worth the effort.
It never ceases to amaze me how many Euros travel so much further, and how few Americans appreciate whats at their doorstep.

I would love to try going there, how far is it from San Diego? Do I need a 3 day or more weekend?

Thanks!

7-9 hour drive from San Diego depending on your vehicle and general know how.
SoloSports will pamper you from SD for a fat fee, but after that youll know the ropes.
Most people just go for it though. Bring water, warm clothes, food, sleeping stuff, everything youll need. There is nothing there. The closest store is about 2 hours by dirt road.
If youre in SD 3 days is enough. I live in LA area and usually need 4 days. I leave at 4 a.m. and Im sailing by 3 p.m. I use a whole day to surf in the morning and drive home.
A full size van is the best, but Ive seen 30 ft. motor homes and Honda Civics.
The Mexis make it on a wing and a prayer everyday.
