Hey all - I will be relocating to northern Washington some day soon I hope and was wondering what some of the sailing conditions are. Looking anywhere from Port Angeles to Bremerton or Seattle and northward. Mainly wondering how cold the waters get in Strait of Juan de Fuca, Pugot Sound, etc. Im use to a 3/3 with a titanium shirt, booties, hood in winter (Florida). Can you get much sailing in during winter? Are there many sailable days through the year (12+ mph)? Any critters in the water to watch out for? My current equipment is - Fanatic Viper for light winds/cruising, Mistral Screamer 128, all cambered sails from 5.5 - 8.4. Would like to change to RAF, though. Just learning to jibe/waterstart. 170 lbs. On a side note - Port Angeles area seems a little costly for mountain/water real estate - Is there an area like that that might be a little more affordable for acreage or home? Thanks.
By the way - All of your jibe/waterstart/planing tips are awesome - took months if not years off the learning curve! |
